Cresta started writing at an early age to escape the reality of life as an army brat. As the perpetual 'new kid in town', she often created characters and worlds full of imagination to entertain herself until she made new friends.
Life finally settled down when she was 12, but by then writing was in her blood. She was commended throughout high school for her creative writing, and advanced from short stories to novel writing at the age of 13. Her first novel attempts were in the 'Mills and Boon' vein, but at the age of 15 she discovered speculative fiction, and with it her purpose in life.
After high school, she commenced a Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Queensland, but soon found the style of writing too constrained, and transferred to a Bachelor of Arts (English and Writing Studies), which she completed in 2004. This degree helped further develop her script, novel and poetry writing skills, as well as giving her the opportunity to study with Australian authors Venero Armano and Kim Wilkins.
She has co written several short films, including Swing and It's Just a Joke, as well as feature film The Sebet. Works in progress include The Sebet II, and an as-yet untitled novel, both to be completed in 2009.
